History of Butte des Morts

Hear the rich history of Butte des Morts, from its founding as a fur trading post in 1818, through the era of growth under the entrepreneurship of founder Augustin Grignon, and on into the 20th Century. All of this as the community prepares to celebrate its bicentennial in the summer of 2018. Learn about the role of Grignon's grandfather, Charles de Langlade, in the settlement of Wisconsin and the development  of  trade in the Fox River Valley.
