Getting Started

Start your search at home.  Begin with what you know--your present--and it will serve as your road map to your family's past.  Home resources may include photos, Bibles, funeral cards, baby books, newspaper clippings, school or military records and old letters.   Here are more resources to help get you started.

Genealogy Volunteers
Volunteers are available at the library to assist in genealogy research.
Wednesdays, 9:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
Thursdays (1st and 3rd of each month)
12:00 p.m. - 2:30 p.m.

Research Requests & Fees
A $5.00 fee will be charged for requests from outside the Winnefox Library System service area (Winnebago, Fond du Lac, Green Lake, Marquette and Waushara counties) for a microfilm copy or a photocopy of a vital statistics item, such as birth, death or marriage announcements or notices. For example, copies of 3 obituaries would cost $15.00. Due to high demand, please limit your requests to six at time. More requests may be submitted after receiving all prior requests.

If you would like to make a request, please search the Oshkosh Vital Records Index for complete information.  Requests are processed when volunteers are available or staff time permits so there may be a delay in filling requests from outside our service area. The more complete your information is, the easier it will be for us to fill your request.
