Hanging On

Submitted by: Lisa Rudolph

During the pandemic we found solace outdoors in our beautiful state, specifically by hiking on Wisconsin's Ice Age Trail. When I took this photo, I felt it conveyed beauty in the way the light came through the thinness of the leaf. We can take a lesson from nature's resilience, gathering strength during the fallow time.

Hope in the Face of a Child

To my mind, the ultimate show of resilience is hope. To have a child is to hope. Children are at once resilient and the hope for our future.

Collection of fall leaves piled up next to my front porch. One doesn't always have to go far to see real beauty

Retaining Joy

Resilience is an ability to retain joy in the face of uncertainty. I took this image of my wife finding joy on a walk in the golden afternoon sunlight.

Caption: Executive Doemel Signing the Asian and Pacific Islander American Citizen Appreciation Resolution for Winnebago County. Jon Doemel has endured a lifetime of adversity and resilience which culminated this spring with him winning the Winnebago County Executive seat over 16-year incumbent Mark Harris. Under Doemel's leadership, this resolution thanks our Asian and Pacific Islander citizens for their own resilience and contributions in and around our great community.

Our country has weathered challenges this past year on many levels. Climate, pandemic, division. We have been resilient. For me, this image represents that resilience on each front. Here's to new growth!

A foggy sunrise

Submitted by: Calvin Landolt

Alright, you got me. The resilience is not in the picture it's in me, the person behind the camera. The scene was so pretty I knew it would make a great picture but it took me over 15 tries to get the desired affect. I just wouldn't give up because I knew the photo would be worth every second I spent on it.

Enduring Web

Despite strong storms the spider web endures just as people have difficult times and rebuild, and move forward just as a spider web and people, we stay resilient no matter what is thrown at us we still persevere and take on anything head on.

Going Back Up

Submitted by: Emilee Mathwig

I picked this photo because it was a band performing in august 2021, and this photo captures resilience because it shows how a band is back up and performing after all the lows of 2020, and even though it was a bad year for many people they were able to come back from it all and was able to perform for everyone that day.

New life

A perennial tulip plant in our garden. To me plants are the epitome of resilience. They weather the elements year after year after year as they continue to become larger and stronger.

Self Reflection

Submitted by: Dylan Baumgarrt

This is a double exposure that shows a girl sitting on a stool in the middle of a sidewalk, looking down at her shoes. It looks as if she is pondering something, or reflecting on life choices. Around her is a zoomed-in, translucent exposure of the same girl. This really gives the effect of her looking inside herself. She is surrounded by a different version of herself, and she feels trapped. This shows resilience because it depicts the difficult struggle between fiction and reality when trying to find yourself.

Strong Roots

Submitted by: Andreas Cerney

Despite all odds a small tree grows in the most unlikely of places; not only in the pebbles and stones but also in between two rocks, just like humans and people. Despite all odds no matter what we face... we still have enough power to face it with the fullest of our ability and take down any obstacles in our path.

The Beauty of Life

Submitted by: Dylan Baumgart

This photo depicts a woman getting ready to take on the day, going out to the lake to appreciate the beauties of nature. This photo shows resilience because, despite the hardships we face every single day, she never forgets to take a moment to appreciate the good things in life.
