Chief Oshkosh B&W
Submitted by: John MarxThis image shows the statue of Chief Oshkosh in Menominee Park. It is an icon of Oshkosh since the city was named after him and his tomb is also there on the shore of Lake Winnebago. This was Menominee tribal land and he is honored by having his grave in his native homeland in the city which bears his name.

Double Icon
Submitted by: Connie SchusterThe Federal Reserve Association Building located at 105 Washington Ave. was built in 1914. It has been on the National Register of Historic places since 2016. The library reflected in the glass doors compliments its beautiful architecture. These two buildings are the gateway into the downtown district.

Downtown talent
Submitted by: Stefanie TylerA great capture of the native roots of Oshkosh. Combining the history with a modern twist depicts Oshkosh’s desire for modern history. While this may be a newer work of art, it will hopefully be art history!

Lion of the Library
Submitted by: John MarxThis is a photo of one of the lions by the front steps of the Oshkosh Public Library. They have been a symbol of the library and Oshkosh for many years. There are other copies of the lions around the city and people have enjoyed decorating them and taking their photos with them as souvenirs of their visit to the area.

Morning in the Square
Submitted by: Beanie LittletonSince it's assembly in 2000, the Sundial, nestled in downtown's Opera Square Park, has been a prominent space for locals to gather and connect. Whether catching up with an old friend, meeting up with someone new, or attending one of Oshkosh's many festivities, the Sundial offers a striking, memorable, and accessible meeting ground. Pictured is a artistic view of the Sundial semi obscured by a tree. New Moon cafe and the jazz mural painted on it's south wall stand proudly in the distance. The dial face used as seating for passerbys gleams with morning light. Living in Oshkosh for over a decade, I view the Sundial as a comforting monument that exudes feelings of home. I wouldn't doubt that many Oshkosh residents feel the same.

Stop the Car
Submitted by: Lisa RudolphPart of what makes Oshkosh a destination city in my opinion is it's waterways. They provide enviable fishing, boating, silent sports and of course, sunsets. Each time we travel away for the day, I try to time it so that we are crossing the Lake Butte Des Morts bridge at sunset and I have my camera ready for that iconic shot out the car window! I call them "Stop the Car" shots.

Time Tether
Submitted by: Claire Koepp“We need to stop at the fountain! We always stop there before we leave.”
Water seems to have a gravitational pull on children. If we are ever nearby the Opera House Square Sundial fountain, we cannot leave without stopping by to say hello. This regular practice is now an anchor of their childhood – tied to memories of Saturday mornings eating mini donuts at the farmers market and gathering with friends & family. It anchors warm core memories of this city, their home. When childhood is over, this Sundial will continue to be a tether back to this time in their lives – as I’m sure it will do similarly for many others.

Creating Iconic Chronicles
Submitted by: Hailey HardelThis image features photos I took for Agul Tong, a senior of the class of 2024 at Oshkosh North. For this piece, I blended together many pictures we took in the downtown area. In this image, beautiful features of our architecture are seen, representing Oshkosh's past. Also, multiple murals found in downtown Oshkosh are blended onto the image, representing Oshkosh's creative growth and path to a future of many more flourishing creative endeavors. The youth is undoubtedly going to bring an abundance of success and creative change to our city, so the fact that I used Agul's senior photos to create this image represents Oshkosh's future that our extraordinary and iconic youth will bring. The image is colorful, diverse, complex, and has more beauty to be found the more you observe it, just like our iconic city of Oshkosh!

Sunset at Ohio Street Bridge
Submitted by: Kathleen O’ConnorThis is a serene image of the Ohio Street bridge at sunset, highlighting a common piece of Oshkosh life. Many citizens cross this bridge every day, as it is one of three connections between the North and South sides of Oshkosh. Two parts of our city are divided by the Fox River, but united by a beautiful display of architecture. This bridge signifies oneness and the peacefulness maintained amongst a growing city. Birds and insects provide a contrasting natural soundscape for this site, encapsulating the duality of life in Oshkosh.

‘On the Water’ Tower
Submitted by: Kathleen O’ConnorThis photo is a shot of the downtown Oshkosh water tower amidst fall foliage. The ‘on the water’ logo can be seen as a proud demonstration of one of our city’s most abundant natural resources. From the time of early settlement to now, water has always played a key role in the success and popularity of Oshkosh. This photo is a display of the cruciality of water to our city and appreciation toward our assets.
