Area 51: What's really out there?

They Can’t Stop All of Us is planned for Sept. 20. What started as a Facebook joke to raid a U.S. Air Force Base and “see them aliens” has grown into a cultural event.

The military has repeatedly warned people to stay away.

In the meantime, the Little A’LE’INN Bar & Motel (located on the Extraterrestrial Highway in the nearby town of Rachel – population: 54) has planned a three-day music festival branded as Alienstock to take place the same weekend. The Alien Research Center souvenir shop is hosting the inaugural Storm Area-51 Festival.

Officials in the Nevada county where Area 51 is located have drafted an emergency declaration ahead of the events. The National Guard could be deployed if needed.

Of course, one big question looms. How many people will show up?

With a two-lane highway leading into the area, harsh environment, no nearby food, water, gas, shelter, ATM machines or internet, it could be a disastrous experience for the unprepared.

Are you interested in a close encounter of the third kind, but prefer not to travel down a dark, desert highway leading to a military base that’s on high alert and authorized to use deadly force? We have some Area 51 related reads that may satisfy your cosmic curiosity.
