IRS Commissioner, Linda Stiff, said the first rebate checks should arrive in early May and continue through the summer. Payments will range from $300 to $600 for individuals and $600 to $1,200 for joint tax filers. Taxpayers with children under age 17 can receive $300 per child.

If you file a 2007 tax return, the IRS will determine eligibility and payment amount.
What if you didn't earn enough to file a 2007 tax return or receive only veterans disability payments or Social Security pay?
You will be required to file a federal tax return too get the rebate check.
For these individuals, (1) Write "Stimulus Payment" across the top of the tax form (2) On line 14a on the 1040A tax form or line 20a on a 1040 form, enter Social Security benefits, railroad retirement payments or veterans disability and death benefits for 2007.
