Taliesin by Stephen Lawhead
This was a very interesting book that appears to be setting the stage for a historical fiction version of King Arthur. Taliesin is depicted as Merlin’s father, who goes through trials within his personal kingdom. He married a woman named Charis who also went through trials as her people were the last of the island of Atlantis. It’s a great story that leaves you excited for the next book, entitled “Merlin.”

Fantastic panorama of history in the style of John Jakes. Even though this was a novel, I learned more about early colonial history than I ever did in a history class. Really captures the mood of the times! --Michael
