Wisconsin Street Bridge & Ohio Street Closure

The Wisconsin Street Bridge and 700 feet of Wisconsin Street from the bridge crossing the Fox River north to Pearl Street will close Tuesday, May 6.  The Fox River will remain open , but demolition of the old bridge may cause some delays. 

The Wisconsin Dept. of Transportation is rebuilding Ohio Street from Witzel Avenue to South Park Avenue.  There will be continued access to businesses on Ohio Street during the project.

Detours
WIS44(Ohio Street/Wisconsin Street) will be detoured from 9th Ave. to High Ave.

  • Southbound: East on High Ave., south on Main St., and west on South Park Ave.
  • Northbound: East on South Park Ave., north on Main Street and west on Algoma Blvd.

The new bridge and Ohio Street will reopen in October.  Check WisDOT's project web site for updates

First National Bank - Site for Johnny Depp Movie - "Public Enemies"

 

 In April 1927, the First National Bank building, located at Main and Washington opened. This was the third building constructed on this site. It was an eight-story, bank and office building that cost $550,000. The Bank celebrated its 75th anniversary in 1927. According to an Oshkosh Daily Northwestern article, May 2, 1927 p.4, thousands visited the building during its opening week. Between 18,000 and 20,000 people toured the building on that Saturday. Rulers, roses, and cigars were given out as souvenirs.

"Public Enemies" Open Casting Call

Interested in making some money or want to be in the movies?  There will be an open casting call for the Johnny Depp movie, "Public Enemies."

Saturday, Mar. 8th, 10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
Carl Traeger Middle School, 3000 W. 20th Ave., Oshkosh
Please bring a recent color photograph and a pen.

Men - no taller than 6'1", dress in dark to medium suit, tie, and an overcoat (not down), and dress shoes.  Important that your hair be kept long, do not cut your hair.  If you have long hair, pull back in a ponytail.

Women - no taller than 5'8" and no larger than a size 12, dress in a dark to medium dress or skirt and sweater, overcoat, and pumps (med heel).  Set hair in curlers the night before and come with it brushed out.

City Council Meetings Available via Internet

Oshkosh Community Media Services (formerly OCAT) now offers streaming video of City Council meetings.  For those without cable or Internet access, these meetings are viewable on the Library's public Internet computers. 

The new Oshkosh Community Media Services website replaces the former OCATonline.com website. New features to the site include: live 24/7 videostreaming feeds of CitiCable 10 and archived videostreaming of all CitiCable 10 government meetings, municipal program and public affairs series.

State of the City Address and Open House

Residents are invited to attend the 2008 State of the City Address and Open House on Thursday, Feb. 28th.  It will be held at the Oshkosh Seniors Center Annex Building (234 North Campbell Road) from 6:30 p.m. - 8:30 p.m.  In addition to the Address, there will be an Open House where residents will get a chance to interact with department and division heads. Information and displays on various city projects and initiatives will be featured at the Open House. The Library will have information on the Library's Strategic Plan.  Refreshments will be served.

The Address will be video streamed live on the Oshkosh Community Media Services website (formerly OCAT), televised live on CitiCable 10 and simulcast live on WOCT 101.9 FM
