A collection of photographs of school buildings from across the county. The images have been digitized to help document local education and architectural history. Some of this collection has been made available through the cooperation between the Forrest Polk Library of the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh and the Oshkosh Public Library. The Winneconne Historical Society has also contributed images to this collection.

Most of these photographs were taken by National School Services, now Lifetouch, the Eden Prairie, MN-based photography studios. For years, NSS's "picture men" would travel to one-room schoolhouses with mahogany box cameras taking photographs of classes as well as the schoolhouse buildings.
The color slides were drawn from the collections of the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh Archives and Area Research Center. The slides were part of a large group of county records once stored at a county garage located on Knapp Street in Oshkosh. These and other records have since been transferred to the Area Research Center to be made available to the public researcher. The deterioration of the slides due to the harsh environment of the garage is evident on many of the images.
