Sign-up for the Teen Summer Reading Program by filling out and submitting this form or pick up a reading packet at the 1st Floor Customer Service Desk. Keep track of your reading minutes and return your reading ticket to the 1st floor Customer Service Desk or submit your minutes using the online form to earn chances towards weekly prize drawings.

Toyko Pop Art Contest

TOKYOPOP & Pocky want you to get your creative juices flowing! Submit an original piece of artwork or a 1-3 panel comic that includes images of Pocky -- you can create a box of Pocky, characters enjoying Pocky, or an intriguing Pocky world! Five winners will be chosen to win some amazing prizes!

Submit an original piece of art that includes any images of Pocky & make sure they are:

  • Total Size: 10 MB
  • 300 jpeg, at least 5” 7”
  • Art submissions must be either a piece of artwork OR a 1-3 panel comic
  • Submissions should be digital format and must sent in .jpg file format to fancontent [at] tokyopop [dot] com

Death Note Day

Kinokuniya, the biggest Japanese language bookstore in the United States, is holding Death Note Day to promote the upcoming two-day special theatrical showing of the new live action film Deathnote: L, Change the World on April 29 & 30. Death Note is a popular anime and manga supernatural thriller about Light, a young man who commits murders undetected and L, the mysterious detective who hunts him.

Free Comic Book!

Leave your wallet at home. On Saturday, May 2, participating comic book shops across North America will be giving away free comic books to anyone who stops in.

You can get your own free comic book between 11 a.m. and 9 p.m. at the House of Heroes, 407 N. Main St. Oshkosh. Titles include Star Wars, Avengers, Ultimo, Wolverine and more.

This is a great activity and the price is right!

Teen Choice Awards

Voting for the finalists is now open for the Children’s Book Center’s annual Teen Choice Awards. Teens have until May 3 to cast their votes for the top YA novel of 2008. The winner will be announced on May 12 at a gala in New York City during Children's Book Week (May 11–17).

The five finalists for the Teen Choice Award are Airhead (Point/Scholastic) by Meg Cabot, Breaking Dawn  by Stephenie Meyer, The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins, Lock and Key  by Sarah Dessen, and Paper Towns by John Green.

Free Iron Man Game

From Publisher's Weekly:  Marvel Comics has unveiled Iron Man Armored Popper, a new casual game, on their children's site MarvelKids.com. The game, based on the upcoming Nicktoons cartoon Iron Man: Armored Adventures, joins Iron Man Flight Test, Iron Man Armory Assault, Hulk Central Smashdown, Hulk Bad Altitude and Wolverine MRD Escape in the site's list of free casual games. Iron Man: Armored Adventures premieres on the Nicktoons Network on April 24 at 7 p.m., and is a version of the Iron Man story in which Tony—as well as most of the other Iron Man characters—is sixteen when he first puts on the armor. Megan has arrived in Germany!
