Lunar Eclipse Tonight

Tonight is the last full lunar eclipse until 2010.  Starting at 7:43 p.m., Earth's shadow will move across the face of the moon. By 9 p.m., the moon's surface will be completely cast in Earth's dark shadow, causing it to glow a copper-red color.  The eclipse will be over by 9:51.  For a timeline of the eclipse, click here.

The Barlow Planetarium, at University of Wisconsin, Fox Valley, will be having a special event for the eclipse.  With the help of the NEWSTAR astronomy club, there will be outside observing of the eclipse through telescopes and binoculars. There will be a short presentation on eclipses in the planetarium starting at 7 PM and then eveyone will head outside to watch the eclipse starting at 7:30 PM. Free to the public.  Directions to Barlow Planetarium.
