Oshkosh Holiday Parade - Sat. Nov. 8

Come see the Library float and have some fun this Saturday at the Oshkosh Holiday Parade.  Parade starts at 10:00 a.m.  Parade starts at Merritt and Main, travels down Main to 6th and then down Oregon.  Libris the Lion and Winnie the Fox will be accompanying the float this year.  Members of TAG (Teen Action Group) will be handing out candy.  See you there!

Michael Crichton, author of 'Jurassic Park,' 'Timeline,' dies of cancer at 66

The literay world has lost another writer. Many of his books became major Hollywood movies, including "Jurassic Park," "Rising Sun" and "Disclosure." Crichton himself directed and wrote "The Great Train Robbery" and he co-wrote the script for the blockbuster "Twister."  He also created the television show "ER" 

Pulitzer-Winning Author, Studs Terkel, 1912 - 2008

Studs Terkel, who won the 1985 Pulitzer for "The Good War" passed away last week.  He was also a radio host and oral historian.  Other books that he wrote include "Working: People Talk About What They Do All Day and How They Feel About What They Do" (1974) and "Race: How Blacks and Whites Think and Feel About the American Obsession"
