Don't forget to register for the Wisconsin No Call list. Deadline is Dec. 1st. If you don't register by then, you won't be added until March. If you register, you stay on the list for two years. The list is updated quarterly. To register, call 866.966.2255 or visit nocall.wisconsin.gov.

What Are Your Reading Habits?

According to an Associated Press-Ipsos poll, one in four adults say they didn't read a book in the past year. Of those who do read, women and seniors were the best readers, and religious works and popular fiction were their top choices. The typical reader claimed to read four books in the past year.

Mattel Recall

Mattel has voluntarily recalled 9 million of its toys in the United States including popular characters such as Batman, Barbie, Polly Pockets and a toy from Pixar's "Cars" movie because of hazards to children. For a full report on the Mattel recalls, see their website.

GE Dishwasher Recall

General Electric is recalling over 2.5 dishwashers due to reports of electrical shorts and overheating. The recall includes GE built-in dishwashers sold under the following brand names: Eterna, GE, GE Profile™, GE Monogram®, Hotpoint®, and Sears-Kenmore. The dishwashers were sold in white, black, almond, bisque and stainless steel. The brand name is printed on the dishwasher’s front control panel. The following model and serial numbers can be found inside the dishwasher tub on the front left side of the dishwasher.

WisconsinEye

WisconsinEye began live broadcast coverage on the Internet of the State Legislature this week. The organization has also made an agreement with Charter and Time Warner cable companies to broadcast on cable television. Cable launch date has not been announced yet. The library's Law Internet Subject Guide will have a link to WisconsinEye.

New Digital Collection

New to our digital collections is the Winnebago County Rural Schools. This collection consists of photographs of rural schools throughout the county, many that no longer exist or not being used. This was a joint project with the Forrest Polk Library at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh and the Oshkosh Public Library.
