Winnebago Residents Eligible for FEMA Aid

Winnebago County has been added to the state disaster declaration, thus clearing the way for the Federal Emergency Management Agency to offer help to those who sustained flood damage. To apply for FEMA assistance, call 1-800-621-FEMA or visit www.fema.gov.

Storm/Flood Information

City of Oshkosh Emergency Operations Center released an update Friday at 11:00 a.m.  A State of Emergency is still in place for the City of Oshkosh and residents are urged to use caution when traveling and at home.  Full news release and other information is available on the City of Oshkosh website.  Some highlights from the news release:

  • Individuals who have been displaced from their home are encouraged to use the evacuation shelter which has been established at the Oshkosh Convention Center
  • If residents smell natural gas they should leave the house immediately and contact Wisconsin Public Service at 1-800-450-7280.  Residents with electrical outages can also call this number.
  • For emergency or life-threatening situations, residents should contact 911.  For non-emergency incident reporting, residents can call 236-5234.  Residents can report residential damage by calling 236-7467.
  • Sanitation Division will continue its pickup of water-damaged non-appliance items.  Residents can place items immediately on their terrace prior to their regular garbage pickup day.  For more information, check the city website.
  • Residents who had their electricity turned off due to flooding must have a signed affidavit by a local licensed electrical contractor before Wisconsin Power Service can restore their power.

Residents with flood damage are urged to contact Winnebago County Emergency Management.  Affected property owners should call 920-236-7457.  Property owners should document any damage.  Photographs or video provide the most useful documentation.

The City of Oshkosh's Health Services Division has information regarding private well testing, basement-sewage cleanup or concerns about mold.  Call 920-236-5030.

Residents who need clean-up kits or supplies should contact the American Red Cross-Oshkosh at 920-231-3590.

New City Manager Named

Mark Rohloff, current town administrator in Grand Chute, was named City manager by the Oshkosh City Council on Saturday night.  Starting date for Mr. Rohloff will be August 4.  Welcome to Oshkosh!

City Manager Interviews

City Council interviews with the candidates will take place on Friday, June 6. A community forum will be offered on Saturday, June 7 at City Hall from 10:30 a.m. - noon. Interview schedule is available on the City web site.

City Manager Candidates

Six individuals were chosen as finalists for the Oshkosh City Manager position.  Check the Oshkosh Northwestern website to read the resumes of the candidates.  Finalists are:

--Bret Jones, city administrator in Gillette, Wyo.
