Learn about the rich history of Butte des Morts, which began in 1818 as a fur trading post founded by Augustin Grignon.

The Butte des Morts Historical Preservation Society was started by area residents in 2014 to collect, preserve and share materials and information related to the history of Butte des Morts and the surrounding area.

People of the Waters

Get a preview of the Oshkosh Public Museum’s new exhibit, People of the Waters.

The long-term exhibit will allow visitors to discover the region’s rich Native American heritage, which spans 10,000 years. The story will be presented in a compelling, state-of-the-art format that will be rich in artifacts and new interactive features.

Visit the Wisconsin History Tour exhibit and see collections of Oshkosh artifacts from members of the Oshkosh Memorabilia Club. Enter through the historic Washington Avenue entrance. Refreshments provided by the Friends of Oshkosh Public Library.
