BLAZING THE TRAIL: FOLLOWING THE LEWIS & CLARK EXPEDITION TRAIL (1803 - 1806)
In this presentation Dick Campbell shares the story of one of the greatest American events of exploration and discovery, which occurred over 200 years ago. It is focused on the Corps of Discovery’s trip from 1803 - 1806, and takes the audience along the Expedition Trail, through word and power point pictures, as the route was followed for 18 days in 2003, traveling with a tour bus group, from St. Louis, Missouri to Astoria, Oregon, a distance of over 3,000 miles. This is an amazing story of an extraordinary saga, from its visionary spark in Thomas Jefferson’s mind to the expedition itself, with all of its hardships and adventures, which opened the window to the American West.
