Poem in Your Pocket Day
Celebrate poetry at the Oshkosh Public Library with Poem in Your Pocket Day, Thursday, April 24. Stop by the displays on the library's second floor and lower level Children's Department and pick up a pocket-sized poem. Put it in your pocket to share with people you meet throughout the day. Poetry books are available right now, along with pocket-sized blanks for you to write your own poem to share.

Poem in Your Pocket Day began in 2002, when the Office of the Mayor in New York City partnered with the NYC Departments of Cultural Affairs and Education and initiated Poem in Your Pocket Day as part of the city’s celebration for National Poetry Month. In 2008 the Academy of American Poets took the celebration nationwide. Learn more about Poem in Your Pocket Day and to see what others around the country are doing to celebrate.
