Oshkosh Online City Directories
No longer under lock and key, Oshkosh Public Library has digitized twenty-nine city directories spanning the years 1857 to 1922. Funding for the project was obtained from a grant from the Alberta Kimball Foundation and, at the request of Mayor Stephen Hintz, an appropriation from the Sesquicentennial Project Fund of the City of Oshkosh. Enjoy digging into your Oshkosh past through the contents of these directories.

Tips on using this collection:
1)
To read the city directories, your web browser will need the free Adobe® Acrobat® Reader® plug-in. If you have Adobe® Acrobat® Reader® installed, when you click on the link for any of the city directories, the reader should automatically start up, and you can view or print the PDF document. If you don't already have this installed, you can download your free copy from Adobe®.
Also available is the Access.Adobe®.Com tool that allows blind and visually impaired users to read any document in Adobe PDF format. The tool converts PDF documents into simple HTML or ASCII text which can then be read by a number of common screen reading programs that synthesize the HTML as audible speech.
2)
If you would like to locate a particular name or word within the document you are viewing, simply click the 'Find' button that looks like a pair of binoculars located in the upper left corner of your browser window. This will bring up an Adobe® Acrobat® Reader® Find box where you can type in the word you are looking for, and press Find. This will take you to the first occurrence of the word in the document.
3)
To locate the next occurrence of that name/word, click the 'Find Again' button located next to the Find button.
