The Friends are organized to provide support for the library through volunteer service, fundraising, and advocacy. Membership in the Friends is open to all individuals and to representatives of organizations, clubs and businesses.  The Friends support used book sales, gift shop sales, author lectures, summer reading, Baby Book Bag project, holiday decorations, publication of a Friends newsletter and mailing of Library Lines & much more.  The annual membership meeting is held in October. The Executive Committee meets bimonthly. Members are notified of other meetings through the calling committee and the Friends' newsletter.

Annual dues should be sent to: Friends of the Oshkosh Public Library, 106 Washington Avenue, Oshkosh, WI 54901. Individual yearly membership dues are $10 and individual lifetime dues are $75.

The gift shop is staffed by Friends of the Library volunteers.  You will find a small shop filled with unique items!
Shop for unique handcrafted gifts (glassware, pottery, scented soaps, scarves), canvas bags, bookmarks, computer supplies, book shelves & more!

Every 4th Tues. of the month: 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm
Used book sale days (Tues): 9:30 am - 2:30 pm
Every 1st Sat. of the month: 10:30 am - 12:30 pm




 Volunteer Opportunities - 236-5206

Volunteers help the library to go the extra mile in delivering excellent service, programs and collections.

Current volunteer opportunities include:

  • Home Delivery Service: Select and deliver books to homebound individuals.
  • Genealogy: Assist people in using the resources and equipment in the Genealogy Room. Experience in genealogy is preferred.
  • Roving Readers: Read aloud to groups of preschoolers at area child care centers.
  • Tour Guides: Lead groups of 15-30 children on tours of the building and explain library services, history and architecture.
  • Summer Library Program Aides: Help to register younger children for the annual summer reading club and volunteer at programs.

Training is provided for all volunteer opportunities. Call 236-5206 for more information.
